A piece I made over the summer, and has been hanging on my design wall for months will finally go to the next phase of completion.
I am excited to get this small piece basted to I can begin some hand quilting.
This piece was created using all variety of linen and shot cotton fabrics from my stash. When sewing a quilt with linen, I usually try to sew a 1/2 rather than 1/4 as the linen weave tends to fray easily at the seam. Since I knew this would not be a functional quilt but likely a wall hanging and not requiring a frequent wash, I mostly sewed a regular 1/4 seam allowance.
The colors in this piece were inspired by a backpacking trip in the Eastern Sierras this past summer. The greens and blues were breathtaking!
Hoping to get this little piece all basted up today, and get on to the next phase!
