While I used to be, and indeed still long to be again, an active quilter, it is not my quilts, but my clutch purses that will be living at The Phoenix Shop at Nepenthe’s in Big Sur. Ironic to me as Nepenthe’s is the iconic Highway One eatery and rest stop that was founded by the family of Kaffe Fasset, legendary fiber artist/quilter!
Yes, for over 60 years, this beautiful stop overlooking the Pacific Ocean has existed on the California coast. The unique gift shop was added in 1964 and has been selling one of kind items by local artists/crafters ever since. Over the years of driving up and down the coast, I myself have stopped to eat at the restaurant and take respite in this beautiful setting. Who knew someday I would have the opportunity to sell my work there? Love life’s little surprises…
Through a very organic and fortunate turn of events, my little Indigo and leather clutch purses were “invited” to be at The Phoenix Shop this Spring! This shop is filled with beautiful, bohemian style art, craft, handmades, and of course all things Kaffe. If you happen to be enjoying the California Coast this Spring/Summer, I invite you to stop in for a yummy lunch and a bit of coastal shopping!
p.s. while these are limited editions, now only available at Nepenthe’s, you can find similar clutch purses in my Etsy Shop- BPoppies Handmade
