Before we moved to our new home last weekend and my husband had to remove my well used and much loved design wall, I made sure to get as much out of it as possible.

partial layout of scrappy HST on the design wall

I find it so much easier to visualize a design when I can see it together on my wall (the above is just a portion of it).  So as I had a bunch of 6 1/2 Scrappy HSTs already made up, I figured I should finally decide on a layout while I still had the help of my design wall.

rows in piles and ready to sew

Once I decided on the layout I was able to take the squares down and mark them by rows.  This will be the first large quilt I make in this new space and possibly the last for quite a while.  At least until we get our house addition and room for a design wall again- let’s just say, I’m not holding my breath for that day….:-)
