Many months ago I began the quilt journey that led to this, Miss A’s Happy Scrappy Birthday Quilt {AKA The Little Quilt Top That Could}!!

This slowly evolved into what I knew would be perfect as my middle daughter’s birthday quilt!

Happy Scrappy Quilt- finished #1

I’m so excited to have actually finished it in time for her birthday celebration this weekend!!  Yes sometimes I even surprise myself!!  🙂

I had such fun making this quilt, and what I love is that the birthday girl was around to witness all the transformations.  Often times she was even assisting me (she’s become my “go to” basting helper).

When it came to the back, I decided it would be fun to let her “design” it.  She picked out the fabric (with a little editing from mom-yes I actually toned it down), and  we worked together to come up with the ahhhh, well let’s just call it an extra scrappy and playful layout.   It was really special to work together and share this step with my sweet girl!

Knowing that this is a quilt that will give her comfort and warmth for so many years to come,  seriously makes my heart feel all warm and fuzzy!!

Happy Scrappy Quilt folded #2

I decided to bind the quilt and then work here and there on some hand quilting stitches.  I just don’t think I can resist adding that little bit of  hand stitched charm to this modern quilt.  I’ll keep you posted as I get further into it!

Happy Scrappy Quilt #2

This quilt finished a bit smaller than a standard twin size, but plenty big to cuddle up under all night long and cover her entire bed.  It’s already had a good wash and dry and is ready to be wrapped up for my Miss A!!  Happy birthday you bright light you!!!  Now, I’ve got a carrot cake to make!

Linking up with Crazy Mom Quilts today!  Happy weekend to you all!!!
