Well, after meeting my goal last week of finishing my Box of Rain Quilt {aka Oakshott Untitled}, I was kind of ready to take a little break from sewing/quilting.  After all, my girls were ready for some mamma cooked meals, and clean laundry, etc.  Yes I had let a few things go over that last “crunchtime” week or two.   Thank goodness for helpful hubs!

Anyway, as I was just getting ready to settle in to this week of “rest”, I received a lovely invitation via Flickr to join a The Boston Modern Quilt Guild in making quilt blocks for the victims and families affected by the Boston Marathon tragedy!  To this I could not say no! I got right to work picking some fabric in the colors of the Marathon.  My local MQG friends have already expressed interest as well so we are hoping to gather a good number of blue, yellow, gray and white modern blocks to send off to Boston at the end of May.

As you can see my gray and yellow stash is running a bit low, so by blocks will be heavily blue!  I know I have tons of yellow and gray scraps I can muster up and do something fun with.

I think this is such a thoughtful gesture and I’m happy to be able to participate in a way that will bring comfort to those in need.  You can find out more about this effort and how you and your MQG can get involved and help, over at Natalie’s site or the Boston MQG site linked earlier in the post.
