As this year comes to a close, I have been reflecting on my year in quilts as well as looking forward to the year ahead. I feel like this year was a slow one for me in my sewing room-definitely not in any other area of life!! While, in the end, I ended up completing a fair amount of work, I was often conflicted, about how much time to “claim” for my quilting and how much time to give to…… everything else! This year seemed to result in my quilting/blogging ending up low on the list of “to do’s”. Like most of us, I have a hard time finding a way to strike a balance that feels right. I’m grateful however for all the things that are present in my life in addition to quilting, just wish there were more hours in a day/week/month!
Before I move on to my thoughts for the upcoming year, I want to share some of my favorite finishes that I feel especially good about from 2o12! The first three are currently hanging on walls in my home, the fourth is getting ready to be shipped off to Austin for the Quilt Con Show in February!
In order of appearance: Any Road Quilt, Passing Showers Quilt, Into the Mist Wall Hanging,
Sing It Out Loud Quilt.
I see 2013 as a time of growth, both personally and creatively. I also realize that I will need to continue to set priorities that feel meaningful and fullfilling. My intention within that, will be to put quilting/creating higher on my list. I have much I want to learn and challenge myself to do creatively this year with my quilts and my blog. I look forward to working more and sharing my work and process with you all, as well as seeing what everyone else is up to. I feel grateful to have found this Modern Quilting community as I find it a great source of connection and inspiration. I’ll not get into specific goals, because frankly, I haven’t made any yet! I’d love to hear about what’s on your mind for quilting goals in 2013, I’m sure you all have some great ideas. Anyway, I wish you all a healthy and loving new year filled with all that gives you joy!
